DaimlerChrysler Services Announces Appointment of Tracy L. Hackman to Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
* General Counsel Christopher A. Taravella to Retire at End of Year Following Distinguished 20-Year Career * Associate General Counsel since 1998, Hackman will be First Female Executive to Lead Company's Office of the General Counsel
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 -- DaimlerChrysler Services North America announced today the appointment of Tracy L. Hackman, who joined the company as a Staff Counsel in 1987, to Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the Americas Region, effective January 1, 2006.
Hackman, who has served as Associate General Counsel and Secretary since 1998, will become the first female executive in the company's 41-year history to lead the Office of the General Counsel.
She succeeds Christopher A. Taravella, Vice President and General Counsel, Office of the General Counsel and Compliance Services. Taravella announced his retirement from the company effective at the end of the year. He joined Chrysler Corporation in 1985 after serving as a Judge Advocate (JAG) in the United States Air Force for 12 years. He was appointed Vice President and General Counsel of DaimlerChrysler Services in 1997.

Hackman has held a number of increasingly responsible positions within DaimlerChrysler Services and DaimlerChrysler Insurance Company. Her most recent position was Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, DaimlerChrysler Services North America, and Secretary, DaimlerChrysler Insurance Company. She received a B.A. in Finance (1982) and an M.B.A. in Advanced Management (1996) from Michigan State University. She received a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1986.
