Lexus Gauntlet Trophy on Display at USC vs. UCLA Football Game

  WHAT:        The crown jewel of the USC-UCLA rivalry, the Lexus Gauntlet
               trophy, will be on display at the Los Angeles Memorial
               Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 3 as the Trojans and Bruins battle
               in football for citywide bragging rights and points towards
               winning the fifth annual all-sports competition.

               Stunning to look at, the Lexus Gauntlet trophy was fabricated
               using the most ancient of all manufacturing processes from
               the Bronze Age, coupled with the most advanced mold-making
               technology available today.  The 150-pound, pewter-gilded
               award will return to its trophy case on the UCLA campus
               following Saturday's clash of cross-town rivals.

  WHO:         Presented by the Southern California Lexus Dealers
               Association, the trophy is awarded annually to the University
               with the most successful athletic year against its archrival.
               UCLA and USC compete head-to-head in 18 sports for the Lexus
               Gauntlet trophy.

               Peristyle end)
               1:15 pm - until the end of the game (SE corner of visitor's

  BACKGROUND:  UCLA claimed citywide bragging rights by defeating USC 67.5-
               42.5 last year to return the perpetual Lexus Gauntlet trophy
               back to Westwood.  So far this season, USC holds a narrow 15-
               10 point advantage after five events.  In the first four
               years of the Gauntlet competition, the archrivals have
               alternated winning the trophy.  USC won the inaugural trophy
               in 2002 and again in 2004.  UCLA captured the rivalry's crown
               jewel in 2003 and 2005.
