Polo Ralph Lauren Elects Steven P. Murphy to Board of Directors

NEW YORK--Nov. 2, 20059, 2005--Polo Ralph Lauren announced that Steven P. Murphy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rodale Inc., has joined the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Murphy's election brings the number of Directors on the Company's Board to 10.

"Steven is a welcome addition to our Board of Directors and brings a fresh perspective to our industry. I believe that our Board will benefit from his experience in building brands in media, entertainment and publishing on a global basis," said Ralph Lauren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Polo Ralph Lauren.

Since 2002, Steven P. Murphy has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rodale Inc., a privately held company which publishes health and wellness magazines, books, and on line publications. He joined Rodale in 2000 as President and Chief Operating Officer. Rodale has also expanded globally under Mr. Murphy's direction and now reaches more than 30 million people in 57 countries with editions of its magazines in 10 new locations, including China and India.

Prior to joining Rodale in 2000, Mr. Murphy held the position of Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Disney Publishing Worldwide since 1998. From 1991-1998, Mr. Murphy served as President of EMI Music/Angel Records, where he is credited with expanding the business from one to three labels. In addition, from 1985-1991, Mr. Murphy worked for Simon & Schuster, a leading consumer and trade publishing company, as a division President.
