STEELE TAKES 30-LAP IRWINDALE SPRINT SWANSON LOCKS UP WESTERN SPRINT TITLE

NOVEMBER 28, 2005

Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. captured Thursday night's 40-lap
Valvoline USAC Western Sprint Car Series finale, leading the final four
laps after passing fast qualifier Kody Swanson on lap 37. Steele piloted
the GM Land & Cattle/MPH Enterprises Eagle/Chevy to the victory.

Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., finished third after leading 31
laps but his performance was enough to win the series championship,
defeating title challengers Mike Murgoitio and Tim Barber.

Swanson finished with a 46-point lead over Murgoitio, who took
second from Swanson on the final lap and edged Barber by a single point in
the final standings.

Tony Hunt of Fair Oaks, Calif. won Thursday night's 12-lap
"qualifying race."

Swanson will be among honorees at the USAC Western Racing
Series Banquet January 7 in Buena Park, Calif. and the USAC "Night of
Champions" in Indianapolis, Ind. January 28.
