Ward's Reports Estimated North American Vehicle Production November 23, 2005

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 23, 2005 -- Vehicle production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 249,186 units, down 20.3 percent from the 312,532 cars and trucks built last week, according to WardsAuto.com.

Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,994,597 vehicles, up 0.7 percent from like-2004's pace.

In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 147,234 vehicles this week, down 30.7 percent from the 212,562 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 11,006,836 units, up 0.1 percent compared to the 10,991,733 vehicles built in like-2004.

This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 61,689, an increase of 6.2 percent from the 58,092 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,454,034 units, down 1.3 percent compared to the 2,486,185 vehicles produced in like-2004.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 24.8 percent; Ford Motor Co., 25.6 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.9 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 8.0 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.0 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.9 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.0 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.9 percent; and other manufacturers, 4.6 percent.
