MINDY’S MONDAY MINUTE
Ringers Gloves Weekend Wrap-Up – Season-end NASCAR Report

Moorpark, Calif. - (November 21, 2005) The 2005 NASCAR season has come to
an end in its three premiere series; Nextel Cup, Busch Grand National and
Craftsman Truck.
The Ford Championship weekend at Florida’s Homestead-Miami Speedway saw
action in the Ford 200 in Friday night’s Truck race, the Ford 300 in Saturday’s
Busch race and the finale of them all, the Ford 400 in the Nextel Cup race on
Sunday.
On Friday, the Ringers Gloves team of Billy Ballew Motorsports planted Kyle
Busch back in the driver’s seat of the No. 15 Chevrolet for the final race of
the year. Busch continued his consistency in the truck that he displayed
throughout the season and brought the No. 15 home in sixth place.
The Ringers team of Orleans Racing saw Brendan Gaughan and Scott Lynch
finish 16th and 17th respectively.
Gaughan finished 19th in the Craftsman Truck Series season points.
Saturday’s Ford 300 saw Ryan Newman continue to dominate the Busch Series
regulars. Newman took his fourth Busch Pole of his short nine-race Busch
season and also captured his sixth win of the year, after a battle with Greg
Biffle in the closing laps of the race.
Other Ringers notables in the field were Paul Menard, finished fifth and
J.J. Yeley in 28th, both were protected with UnderX by Ringers.
Menard moved up one position in points to finish sixth on the season and
Yeley, 11th.
Not only did Newman capture the pole for the Busch race, he took the outside
front row in the Nextel Cup Series’ season finale Ford 400.
Newman fought a tight race car on and off throughout the day, but rallied to
pick up a seventh place finish, ending his season sixth in Nextel Cup Chase
for the Championship points.
His Penske Racing South teammate Rusty Wallace completed his “Last Call??
Tour with a 13th place finish at Homestead.
Wallace will pick up his eighth place Championship points paycheck in New
York in early December.
Their teammate Travis Kvapil ended his rookie Nextel Cup season 33rd in
season points, with a 32nd place finish in the Ford 400.
For 2006, Penske Racing South will have a different driver in the No. 2
Miller Lite Dodge. As it’s been speculated for most of the season and finally
confirmed a couple weeks ago, the driver that will fill the seat of the
legendary Rusty Wallace will be the 2004 Nextel Cup Champion, Kurt Busch.
The 2006 NASCAR season will begin at the familiar Daytona International
Speedway in February.
