ModViz Announces Shell Oil as a Virtual Graphics Platform Customer

OAKLAND, Calif.--Nov. 1, 20057, 2005--Following an extensive evaluation process, Shell International's Exploration and Production Division in Houston, Texas, has licensed ModViz's Virtual Graphics Platform(R) (VGP(R)) to accelerate their 3D seismic interpretation application 123DI. ModViz's VGP software allows OpenGL-based applications such as Shell's 123DI to leverage multiple graphic processors in a single workstation or across a cluster of multiple workstations to dramatically increase 3D graphic performance and accelerate workflow. 123DI is utilized throughout Shell on the desktop, in collaboration sessions or "Team Rooms" and in the Visualization Centers. The latter facilities enable multiple geophysicists and their managers to view, discuss and make collaborative decisions about reservoirs or prospects.
