Pioneer's Navigation Systems Winning Their Third Consecutive Innovations Award for Navigation

LONG BEACH, Calif.--Nov. 1, 20056, 2005--Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., the leader in automotive audio, video and information technologies, has been recognized as a 2006 Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase Honoree for their accomplishments with the AVIC-Z1 hard drive navigation system. All Innovations honorees were officially announced yesterday in New York City at the 2006 International CES Press Preview. The Innovations Design and Engineering Award honors superior design and engineering among the year's most technologically advanced products in a wide range of consumer electronics categories.

"It really is an honor. We're excited. We've put a lot of research and development into producing the best informational navigation system we can," said Keith Burnett, vice president of product planning for mobile entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "This award tells us that with the AVIC-Z1 we've done just that, and it solidifies Pioneer's place as the leader in mobile entertainment and information technologies."

Pioneer was previously honored as an Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase Honoree at the 2004 and 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show for their AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2, respectively. The AVIC-Z1 improves upon the already outstanding features and performance that were established with the AVIC-N1 and N2 models.

"We understand that in this hectic, fast-paced world we can use all the help we can to get to our destinations. The AVIC-Z1 navigation unit provides that help, giving you peace of mind," said Michael Townsen, director of marketing for mobile entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., "But when you've got your destination and route figured out, it still allows you to have fun playing music and movies for rear seat passengers, and gives you the ability to expand and add on like, for example, the enhanced iPod interactivity feature."

The AVIC-Z1 employs the most advanced navigation functions to date. Pioneer dramatically improved convenience and safety features for the AVIC-Z1 to help drivers focus on the road. The AVIC-Z1 provides high quality audio and video entertainment for drivers and passengers. Features include:

-- Learning Capability

-- Enhanced Voice Guidance

-- Bluetooth Capability

-- Touch Screen

-- Music Library

-- CD/MP3

-- Enhanced iPod Capability

The system is able to add attachments including XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, iPod adapter, CD changer, a TV tuner, Vehicle Dynamics Processor and back-up camera. The AVIC-Z1 replaces any existing factory system with a double DIN in-dash opening. The all-in-one unit includes a motorized front panel display, two-way crossover, three sets of RCA outputs, Supertuner IIID, Easy EQ and MOSFET50 X 4 amplifier. The AVIC-Z1 will be available in early spring 2006. Suggested pricing will be announced at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV from January 5 through January 8, 2006.
