CRA SPRINT CARS CLOSE OUT 2005 SEASON SATURDAY AT PERRIS

JONES, GARDNER LOCK UP TITLES;
DARLAND TAKES MANZANITA'S "WESTERN WORLD;"
COONS, GARDNER TOP PHOENIX PRELIMS

            Levi Jones of Olney, Ill. and Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. 
celebrated USAC Sprint Car Championships Saturday night following the 38th 
Checker Auto Parts/Budweiser "Western World Championships" at Phoenix, 
Ariz., won by Dave Darland.

             Jones nosed out Darland for the Valvoline National Sprint Car 
Championship by 13 points, while Gardner expanded his Valvoline CRA Sprint 
Car point lead to 188 points over Cory Kruseman entering this Saturday 
night's series finale at Perris, Calif. Only 74 points are available at Perris.

             Scott Benic and 2B Racing, owners of Jones' car, completed the 
2005 season as the USAC National Sprint Car Entrant Champions.

             Darland led the final 35 laps of Saturday's 40-lap race at 
Manzanita Speedway in his Jam It In Storage/Weld Wheels Chalk/Claxton after 
passing defending race winner Bud Kaeding on lap six. Jones finished second 
ahead of Gardner, Kruseman and Mike Spencer. Rip Williams won the "B" Main 
and Ben Gregg took the "C" Main.

             Jerry Coons Jr. of Tucson, Ariz. won Thursday night's 25-lap 
prelim passing Mike Spencer on lap 17 and leading to the checkered flag. 
Trailing Coons and his Kroger/Tide, Bounty/Pringles F5/Mopar were Spencer, 
Gardner, Jones and Darland. Gardner led all but the first three laps of 
Friday's 25-lapper in his Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart 
Eagle/Shaver after passing Darren Hagen on lap three. Coons, Darland, Jones 
and Tracy Hines rounded out the "top-five.

             Jones posted the fastest qualifying time on both Thursday and 
Friday to lock up the 2005 Earl's Fast Qualifying Championship. There was 
no qualifying Saturday.
