BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems Expands in Korea

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 9, 2005 -- BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems is broadening its Korean presence with a new facility in the Ochang Scientific Complex, near ChungJu City, South Korea. This facility will be an addition to a TorqTransfer Systems's sales and engineering support office located in Seoul, and three other BorgWarner operations in Korea. The expansion reflects the growth of BorgWarner's business in Korea and its commitment to increased local support of the company's Korean customers.

"As a global leader in powertrain technology and innovation, BorgWarner is committed to helping its customers succeed in a very competitive global automotive industry," said Cindy Niekamp, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems President and General Manager. "We have important plans to expand production of all-wheel-drive systems for the Korean market, for both rear-wheel drive and front-wheel drive vehicles. This new operation will be integral to that growth."

The 50,000-square-foot facility will initially employ 28 people and includes a manufacturing operation and an administrative building. Production of transfer cases will begin there in early 2006. An October opening celebration was attended by BorgWarner executive management, customers, and local government officials.

BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems is a leading independent global designer and producer of transfer cases and torque management devices for all-wheel drive passenger cars, crossover vehicles, sport-utility vehicles and light trucks. These systems enhance vehicle stability, security and drivability.
