Incentives on Domestic SUVs Strong Possibility, Say Texas Dealers

Washington DC November 8, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that after slow October sales, auto dealers in Texas say domestic automakers may decide to impose consumer incentives on full-size SUVs, reports The Dallas Morning News.

Automakers Ford and GM already have incentives of $2,000 on most full-size pickups and $3,000 or more on full-size SUVs. Those are likely to go up in the next two months, dealers say. "Full-size SUVs are to a point where they won’t sell without incentives," said Sam Pack, owner of Five Star Ford in North Richland Hills, Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton and Ford Country in Lewisville. "The question is how far do we need to go to prop up incentives that are already on them?"
