POMONA RACEWAY – POMONA, CALIF.

Tire Shake, Dixon end Cory Mac’s day and season

POMONA, Calif. (November 6, 2005) – Tire shake got the best of Cory
McClenathan and the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM AirHog dragster, as Larry
Dixon raced to the win light in the opening round of the 41st annual
NHRA Automobile Club of Southern California Finals.

McClenathan got away first at the green light, but tire shake immediate
set in ending any chance that the Lake Havasu resident had for a victory.

Dixon covered the Pomona Raceway quarter-mile track, on the grounds of
the LA County Fairplex, in 4.534 seconds at 325.22 mph. McClenathan
followed, coasting to a 5.361-second pass at 208.36 mph.

“I had him (Larry Dixon) by a little bit at the green,” said
McClenathan. “I thought we had a good chance to win this race until the
car went into tire shake. I went to pedal it and looked up and both
ignition switches broke off the dash. That was pretty much the end of
our weekend and season.

“It’s a shame to go out this way. We end in a dismal ninth place in the
POWERade point chase. That’s not my style. That won’t happen next
year. You hate to lose anytime but it gets to you more when it’s your
hometown track in front of family and friends.

“Thanks to all for their support this year. Carrier Boyz Racing and
FRAM will be back bigger and better next year.”

McClenathan ends the season No. 9 in the final NHRA POWERade Top Fuel
Point standings.
