Advance Auto Parts Funny Car Ready For Final Race Day of 2005

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2004) ­ Cruz Pedregon drove his Advance Auto Parts
Nitro Funny Car into the second position for tomorrow's Automobile Club of
Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway.

Pedregon made his best run of the weekend in the fourth and final qualifying
session, laying down a 4.708-second elapsed time at 328.86 mph. It sets up a
round one showdown with Jim Head, who qualified in the 15th position.

Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car made a final qualifying
pass after sunset. For the 1992 Funny Car champion, it was a perfect time to
make a run at the historic Pomona Raceway.

"Tomorrow, I expect to put on the same strong consistent performances,"
Pedregon said. "My team and I are excited about the solid back-to-back runs
wešve been able to put together during qualifying. To end the season with
such a good car, will make this winteršs prep time easier and exciting
because wešve all that much to look forward to next year.

"Three solid runs are a good indicator of what to expect ," Pedregon added.
"Of course, wešll have to play the racetrack strategy with temperature, but
we plan on being smart and sharp. Both my brother Tonyšs car, and mine, are
some of the strongest cars out here. I am happy for Advance Auto Parts
because they have a car that is contending at the top."
