41ST ANNUAL NHRA AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
POMONA RACEWAY - POMONA, CALIF.
NOVEMBER 3-6, 2005
McClenathan No. 9 at Finals in Pomona
POMONA, Calif. (November 5, 2005) - On the strength of a 4.534-second
run at 324.20 mph in Saturday's first qualifying session, Cory
McClenathan, from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., who drives the Carrier Boyz
Racing FRAM AirHog dragster, finished No. 9, as qualified ended today
for the 41st annual NHRA Automobile Club of Southern California Finals
at Pomona Raceway.
With two of his 28 career wins coming at the Automobile Club of Southern
California Finals, McClenathan hopes to wrap up this year's event with
another trip to the winner's circle. His two wins at the Finals came in
1992 and 2002.
"It was a trial and error weekend for the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM
AirHog team," said McClenathan. "We are trying to win this race, while
at the same time trying to get ready for next year. We're still trying
to be consistent and maybe we tried some things we shouldn't have.
Tomorrow we want to at least go a couple rounds. We still have a shot
to get to eighth in POWERade points."
McClenathan will face Larry Dixon in tomorrow's opening round of
eliminations. Dixon qualified No. 9 with a pass of 4.522 seconds at
326.45 mph.
ELIMINATIONS: McClenathan begins his quest for the Top Fuel title on
