Modine's Toledo Assembly Facility Achieves Production Milestone, 1,000,000th Engine Cooling Module for DaimlerChrysler Plant

RACINE, Wis.--Nov. 4, 2005--Modine Manufacturing Company , a diversified world leader in developing thermal management technology and solutions, announced today its Toledo, Ohio assembly plant reached an important milestone, producing the 1,000,000th engine cooling module for DaimlerChrysler's Jeep Liberty. The Modine Toledo plant is one of seven sequenced-parts delivery (SPD) suppliers to DaimlerChrysler's Toledo North Assembly Plant, located only five miles north.

"Our Toledo plant operates on just-in-time, just-in-sequence technology and sends the correct engine cooling modules to DaimlerChrysler statistically 100% of the time," said David Wendt, Modine Toledo Plant Manager. "We have a 26-point vision inspection system to make sure every module is correct before it goes out the door. This is wonderful recognition for our employees. Without them and the technology, this could not be possible."

Modine's Toledo facility employs 25 people to assemble seven different module configurations for vehicles equipped with gasoline and diesel engines. "This facility has an automatic storage and retrieval system and a highly automated assembly line capable of batch and sequence production that processes orders every 72 seconds," said Johannes Kuron, Modine's General Manager of the North American Automotive Division.

Modine's Toledo plant is supplied with parts from four of its sister Modine facilities including: PF(R) (Parallel Flow) brazed aluminum oil coolers, a Modine-patented product, from Richland, South Carolina; radiator cores from Clinton, Tennessee; PF condensers & PF combo coolers from McHenry, Illinois; and charge air coolers from Pliezhausen, Germany.

"I am very proud of the dedication and commitment shown by every Modine employee. With the help of our sister plants we continue to exceed all of our customer's expectations," added Wendt.

Modine's Toledo plant, which opened in April 2001 has received a number of awards, such as: "Supplier of the Year" in 2002 by DaimlerChrysler; Modine Safety Star Award in 2003 for achieving high safety standards; Modine President's Award in 2004 for "Plant of the Year"; and ten "Supplier of the Quarter" awards from DaimlerChrysler's Toledo Plant.

Founded in 1916 and with projected fiscal 2006 revenues from continuing operations of approximately $1.6 billion, Modine specializes in thermal management systems and components, bringing highly engineered heating and cooling technology and solutions to diversified global markets. Modine products are used in light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) equipment, industrial equipment, refrigeration systems, fuel cells, and electronics.
