Ford to Subsidize Installation of Ethanol-85 Pumps

Washington DC November 4, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that Ford is set to announce today plans to subsidize installation of ethanol fuel pumps at gas stations around the Midwest. Concurrently, the company says it will increase production of cars that burn fuel with as much as 85 percent ethanol (E-85), reports The New York Times. The move is in partnership with ethanol producer VeraSun Energy. Ford also said it would work with dealers to emphasize the availability of ethanol-burning cars in areas where the fuel is sold. Most of the 500 or so gas stations that sell E-85 are located in the Midwest, because “ethanol is produced from crops that are grown there and are difficult to ship.”
