Carrier Boyz Racing Prerace: McClenathan wraps up season at
home track
41ST ANNUAL NHRA AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
POMONA RACEWAY - POMONA, CALIF.
NOVEMBER 3-6, 2005
McClenathan wraps up season at home track
POMONA, Calif. (November 3, 2005) - Having spent his formative years,
youth and most of his adult life in Southern California, Cory
McClenathan, driver of the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM AirHog dragster, can
legitimately lay claim to calling Pomona Raceway his home track.
With two of his 28 career wins coming at the Automobile Club of Southern
California Finals, McClenathan hopes to wrap up this year's event with
another trip to the winner's circle. His two wins at the Finals came in
1992 and 2002.
"I grew up watching drag racing in Pomona wishing that someday I could
be part of the action," said McClenathan, who now resides in Lake Havasu
City, Ariz. "Southern California is home for my family and Fabtech
Performance Suspensions and PurePower Lubricants, two of my long time
sponsors. A good way to finish off the season at Pomona this year would
be to drive the FRAM AirHog dragster to the winner's circle.
"While we want to win the Finals, we're actually getting ready for next
year. Wes (Cerny), who came on board as crew chief at the last race in
Vegas, and I are still trying to get use to each other even though we've
worked together in the past. While I have hopes of winning,
realistically I would like to see us qualify well and go some rounds.
That would give us much need momentum going into the new season.
"We've already ordered two cars and parts with more things coming.
Also, we've moved most of our Bristol shop to our new shop in
Indianapolis, so the truck and trailer will go from Pomona straight back
to Indy. Indy will be the new home for Carrier Boyz Racing. We're
looking forward to a great 2006 and beyond. We feel we're a top five
team and want to prove that by stepping up our performance beginning
next season."
