ppc RACING JOINS FORCES WITH DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS
DALLAS, Nov. 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- NASCAR Busch Series drivers Ashton Lewis,
Jr. and Kenny Wallace, and team official Andy O'Hara will join Disabled
American Veterans (DAV) National Commander Paul W. Jackson visiting patients at
the Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in Dallas, Texas.
Commander Jackson and the drivers are scheduled to begin their hospital
visit at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, to sign autographs, give souvenirs to
patients, and help brighten the day for sick and disabled veterans.
The visit to the Dallas VA medical center, 4500 S. Lancaster Road, will be
the second by Busch Series drivers under the DAV Celebrity Entertainment
Program. They join NASCAR drivers Regan Smith, Randy LaJoie, Dale Jarrett and
Elliott Sadler, Major League Baseball Umpires Larry Barnett and Jerry Layne, and
others participating in the program. These celebrities generously donate
their time to remember the men and women who sacrificed greatly in defense of
liberty.
"We are proud to have NASCAR celebrities as part of our Celebrity
Entertainment Program," said Jackson. "I know that their visit to the VA medical
center will bring great joy to the men and women veterans being treated there.
Many of these wonderful veterans rarely get visitors. They have sacrificed a
great deal to defend our nation's liberty, and they should get the respect and
care they deserve."
The NASCAR Busch Series enjoys a tremendous fan base, and is televised on
NBC/TNT and FOX/FX. The series boasts attendance in the millions, and is ranked
second in motorsports overall in network ratings, cable ratings and
household numbers.
"These NASCAR celebrities know well that our veterans have sacrificed in
their service to our nation," Jackson said. "I am pleased that they join with
us to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan,
as well as in all previous wars."
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the AutoZone Ford Taurus driven by Wallace will display
the DAV logo on the quarter panels behind the rear tires. ppc Racing will
field the no. 22 car and the no. 10 car driven by Brent Sherman. Owner Greg
Pollex said, "I'm proud to be able to showcase the DAV and what they do for our
veterans. Today, as much or more than ever, our servicemen and women, and
their families and spouses need to know that the DAV is there to support them."
