Johnson Controls Names Charles A. Harvey Vice President of Diversity and Public Affairs

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 1, 2005 -- Johnson Controls today announced it has named Charles A. Harvey Vice President of Diversity and Public Affairs, effective January 1, 2006, reporting to Chairman and CEO John M. Barth.

In his new assignment, Mr. Harvey will be responsible for Johnson Controls' workforce and supplier diversity initiatives, community relations efforts, and public affairs programs. He will oversee the company's "Blue Sky" initiative, which focuses on corporate social responsibility, and will also direct the company's philanthropic work by serving as President of the Johnson Controls Foundation, as well as global charitable giving under the Blue Sky program.

An important component of Mr. Harvey's role will be to preserve and extend Johnson Controls leadership in minority business development, including the company's presence in the "Billion Dollar Roundtable," comprised of 14 U.S. companies with over $1B in annual purchases from minority- and women-owned businesses.

Mr. Harvey had previously served as Automotive Group Vice President of Human Resources. He joined the company in 1991 as Manager Recruiting and Staffing and subsequently held a number of other assignments in human resources. He holds a BA in English from Minnesota's St. John's University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
