DaimlerChrysler AG Reports 3 Percent Decrease in U.S. Sales for Passenger Vehicles for October 2005

* Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Sales of 18,349 Vehicles, a slight increase 0.01 Percent unadjusted for October 2005

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 -- DaimlerChrysler AG , the third largest U.S. auto maker, today reported total group sales of 183,163 passenger vehicles in the U.S. for October 2005, a 3 percent decrease compared to October 2004. All sales figures in this release are on an unadjusted basis unless otherwise noted.

Chrysler Group, which consists of the Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 164,814 vehicles in the U.S., a decrease of 3 percent. Adjusted for one fewer selling day in October 2005 compared to October 2004, sales actually rose 1 percent.

After launching a record nine new models in 2004, the Chrysler Group continues to launch new vehicles at a brisk pace during 2005, including the all-new 2006 Jeep Commander, Dodge Ram Mega Cab and Jeep Liberty CRD. The company is currently shipping to dealers the all-new 2006 Jeep Commander, which has received enthusiastic feedback from the media and great anticipation among consumers.

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) posted sales of 18,349 units, up slightly (0.01 percent) compared to the same month last year. October marks the first full month on the market for the highly-acclaimed R-Class which posted 930 units sold for the month. With the introduction of the R-Class, Mercedes-Benz further expands its position as offering the widest product portfolio in the luxury vehicle market, and the company expects to set another record year.

Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later today in separate press releases issued by the groups. October 2005 had 26 selling days while October 2004 had 27 selling days.
