Pomona, Calif. (November 1, 2005) ­

* Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car, heads to
Pomona Raceway for the second time this season to compete in the 41st annual
Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Nationals. The 1992 Funny Car
champion and his Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car are ready to participate
in the last race of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
 
* Cruz Pedregon, piloto del Funny Car del equipo de Advance Auto Parts, se
dirige al Pomona Raceway por segunda vez esta temporada para participar en
el 41avo campeonato anual de los Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA
Nationals. El campeón de Funny Car del 1992 y su Advance Auto Parts Nitro

* Pedregon and his crew have been working hard to consolidate the Advance
Auto Parts Funny Car set up to that of his brother Tony (Pedregon). After a
few bumps in the road, Pedregon feels confident they are close to achieving
the continuity and performance necessary to create a winning combination.

> ³We have a real fast car,² Pedregon said. ³Once we get the consistency where
> we need it, we will be very hard to beat. At Pomona, we have a shot to win a
> race before the year is out, ending on a high note. Tony and I have our cars
> very similar right now, which is how we envisioned this two car team running.

> ³We opened and closed Las Vegas weekend with solid runs, which were done
> during two different track and weather conditions. So we feel real good that
> whatever Pomona gives us weather wise, we¹ll be ready for it.²

* The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series concludes the 2005 season in the same
place it began in February at the famed Pomona Raceway.

> Pedregon, from Santa Rosa Valley, Calif., has one victory at Pomona Raceway,
> defeating Chuck Etchells in the final of the 1995 Winternationals. He has also
> made two additional final-round appearances (Pomona 2 in 1994 and 1995), and
> recorded four No. 1 qualifiers (Pomona 2 in 1998; Pomona 1 in 1993, 1994 and
> 1996).

* So far this season, Pedregon has improved his personal E.T. to 4.680
seconds, the second best elapsed time in Funny Car history. During that same
run in Joliet, Ill., Pedregon grabbed a career top speed of 330.80 mph.
Pedregon made it to the semifinals at Pomona, scored a runner up at Houston
Raceway Park and reached the semi¹s during the next four races. After a
number one qualifier in Englishtown, N.J. and Joliet, Ill., Pedregon heads
to Pomona tenth in NHRA Nitro Funny Car points with 997.
 
* Esta temporada, hasta el momento, Pedregonha mejorado su tiempo personal a
