MUNCIE, INDIANA NATIVE PIERCE
PURCHASES RILEY SILVER CROWN CAR FOR 2006 SEASON
INDIANAPOLIS – USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series car owner Sam Pierce of
Muncie, Ind. has joined the list of owners for the 2006 season with the
purchase of a Riley Technologies chassis for his son, Aaron.
The car is the second to be sold by Riley Technologies, according to Vice
President Ron McMahon. Multiple-time Indianapolis 500 starter Eliseo Salazar
and longtime Silver Crown owner Johnny Vance purchased the first chassis
late last month.
“Obviously, we’re pleased to sell another car, especially to a current owner
in the series,” McMahon said. “We know we’re going to have multiple cars in
the series right away, and we’re happy with that. We’ve done some work with
Aaron and Sam with the former pavement cars, and look forward to working
with them on the new cars.”
Aaron Pierce, the 2004 series Rookie of the Year, has competed off and on in
the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series and National Midget Car Series
over the past three seasons and recorded his first and only career USAC
victory in April 2003, winning the Sprint car opener at the Anderson (Ind.)
Speedway.
Since the beginning of 2004, Aaron has competed fulltime in the USAC Weld
Racing Silver Crown Series and mustered a ninth-place finish in the final
point rundown in 2004, thanks to a career-best third at Pikes Peak
International Raceway, two Top-5 finishes and five Top-10 results. In 2005,
Aaron made five of the 10 shows.
Sam Pierce, who owns the Sam Pierce Chevrolet dealership in Daleville, Ind.,
has solicited the assistance of Riley in the past. The two have worked
diligently on the pavement Silver Crown car over the past two seasons. The
Pierces expect to continue running their dirt program.
“I have a lot of faith in Riley’s ability to go about this,” Sam Pierce
said. “I think their knowledge and experience with this car has been a
benefit. They helped us with our old pavement car during the 2004 season,
and it was good help and a good step.”
