RINGERS GLOVES NHRA REPORT
Ringers Racers Winning Weekend in Vegas

Moorpark, Calif. - (October 24, 2005) Las Vegas was exceptionally good to
the Ringers racers in all pro categories at the ACDelco NHRA Nationals held
over the weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Both Tony Schumacher and Greg Anderson clinched championship titles in their
respective categories of Top Fuel Dragster and Pro Stock. Schumacher took
his second consecutive, third overall, championship, while Anderson captured
his third consecutive title.
However, Shoe did more than claim a championship. He took home the $100,000
bonus check in the Budweiser Shootout specialty race for the Top Fuelers and
he won yet another Wally this year as he defeated David Grubnic 4.486/327.19
mph to 4.587/324.28 mph.
Shoe’s teammate Ron Capps was victorious in the Funny Car category as well.
Capps took on fellow Schumacher Racing and current Funny Car points leader
Gary Scelzi in finals. He took his Brut Dodge Stratus to Winner’s Circle over
his teammate with a 4.780/325.69 mph run to Scelzi’s 4.819/324.51 mph run.
Capps, capturing his third victory of the season, only sits two points
behind Scelzi in the closest Funny Car points battle in NHRA history.
Greg Anderson’s No. 1 qualifying spot gave him his third consecutive NHRA
Pro Stock championship on Saturday, but he also found himself in the finals
taking on fellow Ringers racer Kurt Johnson.
KJ got the holeshot on Anderson at the line to take his fourth win of the
season and his first win at the track.
After a break in action, the Pro Stock Motorcycle class saw Chip Ellis and
Angelle Sampey duke it out in Vegas.
Sampey fouled at the Tree handing Ellis and his S&S Buell his third career
win.
Ellis clocked a 7.243/187.63 mph run.
NHRA has one final weekend off before heading the Pomona Raceway for the
final event of the 2005 season, the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA
Finals, November 3-6.
