WESTERN MIDGET TITLE COMBATANTS EYE TUCSON'S 63RD USAC RACE
SATURDAY NIGHT
OCTOBER 24, 2005
The United States Auto Club returns to Tucson, Ariz. Saturday
night for the 63rd event in club history in the southern Arizona city.
The USAC Western Midget Car Series will compete on the new USA
Race Park dirt oval, highlighted by the continuing battle for the series
championship between four-time titlist Robby Flock of Murrieta, Calif. and
2004 series runner-up Jerome Rodela of El Monte, Calif. Flock holds a
31-point edge with 74 points available Saturday night.
Saturday night's race is only the fourth for USAC at the new
track and just the second for Midgets. Garrett Hansen won there in June.
The Western Midget Car Series concludes Nov. 24 with the
annual "Turkey Night Grand Prix" in Irwindale, Calif. and Flock hopes to
join Sleepy Tripp as the only five-time series champions in history. Tripp
added two more during his career and recorded a total of seven titles
between 1983 and 1992.
