Solutia Introduces New Vydyne(R) Impact-Modified Product Line

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 18, 2005 -- Solutia Inc.'s (BULLETIN BOARD: SOLUQ) Vydyne nylon resin group today announced the commercialization of its new nylon 66 impact-modified product line. This new product line, the 50 Series, provides superior performance in the following areas:

   -- Excellent impact resistance, based on the latest technology;

   -- Superior flow and processing due to limited material-related plate
      out; and

   -- Outstanding surface appearance as a result of better flow
      characteristics.

This new offering provides manufacturers and designers with better options when developing applications such as thin-walled automotive fasteners, snow ski boots and bindings, power tool housings, fire extinguisher nozzles, and bicycle safety helmets.

"Customers who process impact-modified nylon resins are routinely faced with plate out in their molds, caused by high levels of lubricants," said Jim Kostakes, Vydyne Marketing Technical Service Specialist. "Vydyne 50 Series products are specifically designed to provide better flow and appearance compared to other competitive materials. Additionally, costs are often reduced as a result of faster cycle time due to better flow properties, as well as reduced tool maintenance due to less plate out."

  The products within the Vydyne 50 Series are as follows:

   -- 52 series -- medium-impact grade that is also available as heat- or
      weather-stabilized

   -- 53 series -- high-impact grade that is also available as heat- or
      weather-stabilized

   -- 55 series -- high-impact and high-flow grade that is also available as
      heat stabilized

All products are offered in natural and black or can be custom colored, and glass-filled products are in development.

Vydyne 50 Series impact-modified products are now available globally.
