WHELDON QUALIFIES SEVENTH AT CALIFORNIA
FONTANA, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2005) - Dan Wheldon, driver of the #26
Klein Tools/Jim Beam machine, will start on the inside of row four in
Sunday's running of the California Indy 400 from California Speedway.
Wheldon, who has already clinched the Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series
championship, posted a best-lap speed of 217.702 miles per hour
(33.0728 seconds) during his qualifying attempt.
The final race on the IndyCar Series schedule goes green at 3:45 p.m.
(EDT) with ESPN providing live coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. (EDT).
Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We just don't seem to be very quick. I'm sure the Klein Tools/Jim Beam
team is good enough to make sure we have a reasonable car in the race,
I'm just not sure how good the car will be. I'm just really
happy to see Dario on the pole."
