MX-5 Miata

The widely anticipated all-new 2006 Mazda MX-5 is the first total redesign of the lightweight, nimble, open-air roadster since it was launched in 1989. All-new from bumper to bumper and from the wheels to the top, the 2006 MX-5 has grown in size yet the exterior design and shape remain true to the lively roadster concept. Modern style updates include a wider cockpit with additional hip, shoulder and elbow room. The low, flowing shoulder line is complemented by body panels that smoothly wrap around the nose and tail.

The heart of the 2006 MX-5 is a highly-responsive MZR-series 2.0-liter, 170-horsepower (at 6,700 rpm) powerplant. The 2006 MX-5 has a light and compact engine, featuring chain-driven double overhead camshafts, lightweight fly wheel, variable intake valve timing, electronically controlled port fuel injection and coil-on-plug ignition. Revving smoothly to its 7,000 rpm redline, the 2.0-liter engine delivers 140 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm for driving exhilaration throughout the rev range. The all-new MX-5 benefits from three transmission choices: five-speed manual, six-speed manual and six-speed Sport A/T automatic. The all-new six-speed manual transmission boasts ultra-short throws, reminding the driver that the 2006 MX-5 Miata is the benchmark for manual transmission feel and performance.

RX-8

Introduced in 2004, the Mazda RX-8 remains the only sports car to feature seating for four full-size adults, and the only mass-produced vehicle in the world to offer the high-revving RENESIS rotary engine . The 2006 RX-8 will be a late launch – after the first of the year - and will see a number of changes and updates. Specific product information will be available closer to launch.

MAZDA 3 4-Door and 5-Door

The MAZDA 3 receives minor changes for 2006, and a refinement in build combinations makes ordering even easier. The MAZDA 3 i 4-Door model adds Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to the 2.0-liter engine, increasing power to 150-horsepower (or 145-horsepower PZEV-rated) while increasing fuel economy. The 2.3-liter s model continues to produce 160-horsepower. The perfect sedan for an active lifestyle, the MAZDA 3i 4-Door offers an optional four-speed automatic transmission while the MAZDA 3 s with the 2.3-liter engine now offers as optional an all-new five speed automatic transmission.

MAZDA 3 5-Door is a sporty hatchback with design flair targeted to appeal to a youthful mindset. Fitted with a 2.3-liter, 160-horsepower MZR engine, the same as found in MAZDA 3 4-Door s, MAZDA 5 and MAZDA 6 i , MAZDA 3 5-Door comes standard with a sport package that includes stylish front and rear bumpers, side-skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and unique taillights. An all-new five-speed automatic transmission is optional.

A new 2.3-liter “s Grand Touring” model contains features of last year’s very popular special edition SP23, including heated leather seats, automatic rain sensors, automatic headlights, climate control, plus a trip computer. An optional moonroof and custom Bose ® audio system acoustically tuned for each body style with a digital amplifier, four door speakers, two tweeters and a subwoofer, an in-dash six-disc CD changer and radio that's ready for SIRIUS TM satellite radio reception is available (requires subscription and additional hardware) . In addition, two new exterior colors, Copper Red Mica, and Whitewater Pearl Mica, are added on the 2.3-liter models.

MAZDA 5

All new for 2006, the MAZDA 5 , is a three-row, six-passenger multi-activity vehicle that drives like a sports car but efficiently transports people and equipment like a large SUV. MAZDA 5 demonstrates Mazda’s infusion of stylish, insightful and spirited vehicles into a new segment for the U.S.

The MAZDA 5 is powered by an all-aluminum 2.3-liter, four-cylinder MZR series engine, producing 157-horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, borrowed from the popular MAZDA 3 . Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) provides brisk throttle response and plenty of torque both under acceleration and at cruising speeds. Transmission options are a five-speed manual or four-speed Sport A/T automatic with manual shift mode.

Inside, the MAZDA 5 offers a flexible seating arrangement and a flowing wedge-shaped body with solid proportions, defining the vehicle as unmistakably Mazda. The MAZDA 5 ’s large sliding doors and low floor allow for fluid ingress and egress, and a one-touch walk-in mechanism offers easy access to the third-row seats.

The MAZDA 5 is available in either Sport or Touring trim levels. The Sport trim level includes an AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows and locks as well as cruise control. Touring trim includes all of the amenities of the Sport level and adds climate control, front fog lamps, rear spoiler, side skirts, an in-dash six-disc AM/FM/CD changer and a power moonroof. All vehicles are fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, a fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and side airbags and full three-row side air curtains.

MAZDA 6 Sports Sedan, 5-Door, & Sport Wagon

For 2006, the MAZDA 6 Sports Sedan, 5-Door and Sport Wagon receive an exterior redesign and substantial interior updates. Mechanically, the optional Sport A/T automatic transmission on 4-cylinder models is upgraded from a four-speed to a five-speed configuration bringing improved drivability and fuel economy. The V6 models have been modified to improve exhaust emissions, now producing 215-horsepower at 6,000 rpm, 199 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. V6 models continue to offer a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.

Standard equipment on MAZDA 6 i (four-cylinder) includes Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with Traction Control, adding an eight-way power driver’s seat, security alarm and Side Air Bags with Side Curtains across the range on s models.

New front and rear fascias common to all trim levels enhance the clean lines of MAZDA 6 while new side sills and a new sport-grille emphasize its aggressive stance. Three new exterior colors are offered – Dark Cherry on the MAZDA 6 Sports Sedan and Sport Wagon, Bright Island Blue on the MAZDA 6 5-Door, and Tungsten Gray across the range.

Whether it’s the sleek lines of the road hugging MAZDA 6 sports sedan, the functionality and style of the only mid-size hatchback available in the U.S., the MAZDA 6 5-Door, or the performance and cargo capacity of the MAZDA 6 Sport Wagon, the lineup fits every active lifestyle.

MAZDASPEED 6

All new for 2006, the MAZDASPEED 6 is the fastest accelerating, best handling and most advanced sport sedan Mazda has ever built. The heart of the MAZDASPEED 6 is the MZR 2.3 Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) Turbo engine. Taking advantage of the inherent cooling and efficiency of direct gasoline injection, Mazda applied a fast-spooling single-scroll turbo to supply up to 15 psi of boost, resulting in 280 lb-ft of torque at only 3,000 rpm.

To accommodate the more powerful engine, a new Active Torque-Split All-Wheel Drive system was developed, capable of delivering up to 50 percent of the power to the rear wheels. Not only will the MAZDASPEED 6 corner faster and flatter, but it has a slightly lower, more athletic stance. Stopping power is also enhanced with 12.6-inch ventilated discs up front and 12.4-inch solid discs in back. Combining this technology with standard Dynamic Stability Control and ABS makes the MAZDASPEED 6 highly capable in numerous driving applications.

From the outside, the MAZDASPEED 6 is easily distinguished from MAZDA 6 Sedans due to extensive use of unique body panels, including front fenders, front and rear fascias, hood, grille, rear spoiler and side sills. Once inside the cockpit drivers will find exclusive sport bucket front seats, a standard BOSE audio system, scuff plates with stainless-steel inserts and aluminum pedals. Even starting the vehicle will be a new experience with an available Advanced Keyless Entry and Start System that allows vehicle entry and ignition without handling of the key fob.

Tribute

Updated in 2005, the 2006 Tribute remains largely unchanged. The 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine is the powerplant, coupled with the intelligent four-wheel drive system and a five-speed manual transmission option for the 4WD i model

Two models are offered on the 2006 Tribute, i(2.3-liter, I-4 with 153-horsepower and 152 lb-ft torque) and s (3.0-liter, V-6 with 200-horsepower and 193 lb-ft torque). ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) is standard, and an intelligent, full-time, electric four-wheel drive system with Active Torque Control Coupling (ATCC) is available on both models.

The suspension, with strong spring rates and large stabilizer bars, combines with 16-inch wheels and tires. A premium seven-speaker audio system and a SIRIUS satellite radio-ready head unit round out upscale amenities in Tribute.

MPV

The 200-horsepower, five-speed automatic MPV moves into 2006 with changes only to the color palette. Now offered in Brilliant Black, Bronze Metal, Strato Blue, and Galaxy Gray the MPV remains the only minivan with the soul of a sports car.

MPV received a full redesign in 2004 including new headlamps, hood, front fenders, front grille, rear stop and turn lamps, rear bumper, and side skirts. Interior design changes included new seat and trim fabric, carbon fiber-like panels on the dash and front/rear door trim, a three-spoke steering wheel, plated gauge rings and a spring-assist to ease the third-row seat’s fold-flat-to-the-floor function. Comfort and safety upgrades that carry over this year are driver seat lumbar support, ergonomically shaped first- and second-row head rests, smart front airbags and a lighted centralized door lock switch. Additional features including steering wheel audio controls, remote entry system, four-wheel disc brakes, Side by Slide seats, and available 17-inch alloy wheels, traction control, side air bags add to the extensive offerings of the MPV.

B-Series

The 2006 B-Series remains Mazda’s rough and rugged compact pickup truck. Fewer packaging combinations makes ordering more convenient, while the most popular 4x2, 4x4 and Dual Sport models remain available. The B3000 Cab Plus 4 Door in a base trim level carries over, offering a true utilitarian-type truck.

Dual Sport and SE models still come standard with equipment from the Convenience and Power Packages including cruise, leather-wrapped and tilt steering, bed liner, power windows/doors/mirrors and two remotes. All Cab Plus models also have four doors and jump seats.

The Mazda B-Series truck is available with a 2.3-liter (B2300), 3.0-liter (B3000) or 4.0-liter (B4000) engine. All three versions come with either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission (B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE 4x4, A/T only).
