Moorpark, Calif. - (October 11, 2005) The same song that has been sung
pretty much most of the year was sung again at the makeup O’Reilly NHRA Fall
Nationals at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas over the weekend.
Pro Stock points leader and defending champion Greg Anderson took on fellow
KB Racing teammate Jason Line.
Anderson defeated Line 6.690/206.61 mph to 6.713.207.48 mph on his way to
hopefully collecting his third consecutive Pro Stock championship.
Top Fuel points leader and also defending champion Tony Schumacher claimed
yet another victory on Sunday, inching him one step closer to clinching the
Top Fuel championship.
Shoe beat out No. 1 qualifier Doug Herbert 4.523/331.77 mph to 4.629/320.05
mph.
NHRA has one weekend off before returning to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway for the second time this year for the ACDelco NHRA Nationals, October
20-23.
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series visited Kansas Speedway for the Banquet 400
presented by ConAgra on Sunday.
Penske Racing South driver Rusty Wallace led his other two teammates to the
checkered on Sunday with a seventh place finish, after starting 33rd.
Wallace dropped one position to fourth in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.
Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Travis Kvapil finished 22nd, one spot
ahead of Penske’s other Chase contender, Ryan Newman.
Newman, who had to drop to the tail of the field at the green because of a
