NHRA Northeast Division Finale Postponed
ATCO, N.J. - The rain that arrived Friday night, continued in to
Saturday Morning and is forecasted throughout the weekend forcing NHRA
and Atco Raceway officials to postpone this weekend's Franklin Trailers
NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.
"The rain saturated much of the facility and it does not look to
end anytime in the next several days," commented Bob Lang NHRA Northeast
Division Director. "We never want to return on a later date but after
looking at the radar and contacting the National Weather Service, it's
the only thing we can do."
Racers will return to Atco Raceway on Thursday, October 20th for
parking and a track held test and tune session. Event action will resume
on Friday the 21st with a single qualifying and time trail session
followed by round one of eliminations on Saturday morning. Tech will be
open on Friday only, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday's qualifying action will carry over to final qualifying
on October 21st with Art Gallant in Top Alcohol Dragster and David Ray
in Top Alcohol Funny Car leading their fields.
Many of the NHRA Northeast division's racers will head to Maple
Grove Raceway in Mohan, Pa., next weekend for the Pennsylvania Dutch
Classic before returning to Atco Raceway in two weeks.
