DaimlerChrysler Helps Washington D.C. Students Attend College
WASHINGTON, Oct. 7, 2005 -- DaimlerChrysler is helping give Washington D.C. high school students the opportunity to earn a college degree.
Through its sponsorship of the Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon 3rd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic today, DaimlerChrysler is supporting DC-CAP, a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the District of Columbia public school (DCPS) system to provide counseling, financial aid assistance and mentoring to more than 12,000 high school students, who might otherwise never have an opportunity for higher education.
"Students interested in pursuing a higher education need every encouragement and opportunity available," said Rob Liberatore, DaimlerChrysler Group Senior Vice President for Global External Affairs and Public Policy, and Chairman of the Golf Tournament. "Our hope is that through DaimlerChrysler's participation in the golf tournament, we can help open the doors to higher education for some students that might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend college. We are delighted to once again participate in the golf tournament with our friends Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, and appreciate their leadership in this important and enjoyable event."
The tournament, which benefits the DC College Access Program, is sponsored by DaimlerChrysler, Freddie Mac Foundation, ObjectVideo, Business Roundtable and Lansdowne Resort.
