"We are so pleased and excited to be a part of the 6th Annual Telethon for the Animals benefiting the Oregon Humane Society," said Jim Pernas, regional vice president, Subaru Northwest Region, Subaru of America, Inc. "Subaru has a long history of supporting the organizations that are important to our customers and local community. More than 66 percent of Subaru owners have pet family members and given the fact that our regional headquarters are located right here in Portland, makes this event a perfect match for us."

In addition to a major on-air check presentation, Subaru and its Portland area dealers will also serve as donation centers for the fund drive and sponsor the pet travel tip segments that will be part of the Telethon programming. Anyone that makes a donation through Subaru either at the dealerships or through the online portal at http://www.subaru.com/OHS, will receive a complimentary pet first-aid kit and a pet travel guide.

"We couldn't do it without the generous support of our corporate neighbors like Subaru. Subaru and its Portland area dealers lend a generous and sincere helping hand to a cause that is near and dear to both organizations."

The 2005 OHS Telethon for the Animals is a live television broadcast on KOIN News Channel 6 to raise awareness and funds for the organization, as well as showcase animals available for adoption. The Telethon will also feature Oregon's only Animal Cops and useful advice from OHS Pet Behavior department - including pet travel tips sponsored by Subaru. OHS Hurricane Katrina Animal Rescue and Relief Team members who spent weeks in the Gulf Coast helping the animals will also be on hand to share some of their experiences.
