Subaru Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program Gains Momentum

-- Company's record-setting sales and brand reliability a catalyst for the program --

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Oct. 5 -- Going on a decade of annual sales records and with an amazing ninety-six percent of all Subaru vehicles sold in the last 10 years still on the road today(1), Subaru is rolling out a new certified pre-owned vehicle program.

"The Subaru Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program is an excellent way to attract new customers to the brand," said Bill Cyphers, vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc. "We have some of the most reliable and durable products on the road today, along with some of the most loyal customers. Nearly 80 percent of our dealers have already signed on to participate in the program, and we are confident that it will help us appeal to new buyers and make them Subaru customers for life."

The Subaru Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program includes 5-year-old or newer vehicles with less than 80,000 miles on the odometer. These vehicles must pass a Carfax vehicle history report along with a rigorous 152-point inspection. Upon completion of the inspection and subsequent reconditioning, these cars receive a Subaru-backed service agreement standard at the time of purchase. For qualified vehicles still covered under the original manufacturer's 3-year or 36,000-mile basic new car warranty, the certified pre-owned vehicle receives a standard 6-year/60,000-mile Subaru Added Security Classic plan (which offers major component breakdown coverage). Qualifying vehicles over the original 3-year or 36,000-mile basic new vehicle warranty receive a 12-month or 100,000-mile powertrain plan. Subaru dealers pay a standard fee for certification with upgraded plans available.

"The Subaru Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program is one of the best in the industry and something we've looked forward to for a long time," said Kirk Schneider, chairman, Subaru National Dealer Advisory Board. "The program gives dealers the opportunity to remarket top-quality vehicles to customers, while positively contributing to dealer profitability."
