Ringers Gloves Circle Track Report



Moorpark,  Calif. -  (October 3, 2005) The NASCAR Nextel  Cup Series roared 
into Talladega Superspeedway over the weekend for the UAW-Ford  500. 
The Ringers supported team of Penske Racing South and its drivers all  
brought home top 25 finishes. 
Ryan Newman qualified third for the event, avoided all the mayhem and  
brought his No. 12 Alltel Dodge home in fourth place.  Newman is now second in Chase 
standings  only four points behind leader Tony Stewart. 
Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Travis Kvapil and his No. 77  
Kodak/Jasper Engine Dodge was the highest finishing rookie of the race in  16th. 
Rusty Wallace was involved in one of the two big wrecks early on, made  
repairs and finished 25th, but five laps down. 
Wallace fell one spot in Chase points to third, 76 points behind teammate  
Ryan Newman. 
The NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup Series head to Kansas Speedway this  Saturday 
and Sunday for the United Way 300 presented by Yellow Transportation  and 
Sprint and the Banquet 400 presented by ConAgra Foods,  respectively. 
The Second annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals feature events  
were held on Saturday at the prestigious Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. 
Ringers drivers Shannon Babb and World 100 winner Dale McDowell sat on  the 
front row for the race. 
McDowell led the first 42 laps before Scott Bloomquist took over the lead  
and held it to the end for the $35,000 win. 
Prelim night winner and Ringers supporter Brian Birkhofer attempted to  close 
in on Bloomquist during the closing laps of the race, but unfortunately  fell 
short in hopes of repeating his win in 2004. 
Other Ringers notables in the field were Billy Moyer, third; Rick Eckert,  
fourth; McDowell, fifth; Steve Francis, sixth; Josh Richards, 12th;  Donnie 
Moran, 14th; Jeep Van Wormer, 15th; Shannon Babb,  28th and Tim McCreadie, 29th.
