SHENANDOAH TWIN 25'S UP NEXT FOR CAROLINA/VIRGINIA FOCUS
REGULARS
INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of 25-lappers Saturday at Shenandoah (Va.) Speedway
could decide this season’s USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car
Series championship.
The series continues for the first time since Sept. 10 at the same 3/8-mile
paved track, which Chase Scott of Concord, N.C. scored his 15th career Ford
Focus victory, a 35-lap feature. Scott will be one of the favorites for this
weekend’s twin races, and could leave the track with enough points to defend
his series championship. Scott had nine wins last season and has five in
Carolina/Virginia competition this season.
USAC’s National Ford Focus Midget Car Series champion Robbie Ray of
Davenport, Iowa is the only other driver who could upend Scott’s chance at a
repeat. With this weekend’s twin features and the Oct. 16 race at Hickory
Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C., Ray looks to make up 59 points.
The Shenandoah races take the place of two dirt races which were scheduled
for Sept. 24 at Stanley, N.C. and Oct. 22 at Rocky Mount, N.C.
