SBC Communications Announces New Contract with TRW Automotive; New Agreement to Provide Metropolitan Area Network to Leading Automotive Supplier

SAN ANTONIO--Oct. 3, 2005--SBC Communications Inc. today announced a new networking services contract with Livonia, Mich.-based TRW Automotive , a leading automotive supplier with approximately 60,000 employees in more than 200 facilities in 24 countries.

Under terms of the five-year contract, SBC companies will provide TRW Automotive with Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and GigaMAN(R) services to create a redundant and reliable Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). This network will accommodate the real-time, high-performance demands of TRW Automotive's enterprise applications, and support a restructuring and consolidation of TRW Automotive's corporate data centers.

In addition, SBC companies will deliver SBC PremierSERV(SM) Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) service, enabling high-speed communication and data transfer with customers and suppliers throughout the United States.
