SERIES FINALS
ENNIS, Texas - More than 600 of the best NHRA Summit Racing
Series competitors in the South Central Division went head to head at Texas

Raceway Park led the contingent of 18 tracks, taking the team title on the
strength of three final-round appearances.
In Super Pro, Eric Sandlin of Bedford, Texas, racing for Denton
Dragway, took the win over Houston Raceway Park driver Bart Nelson of La
Porte, Texas. Cherokee County Motorsports Park's Jackie Jones of Kemp,
Texas, won in the Pro category over Powderly, Texas, resident Chris Stephens
racing for Paris Dragstrip. Donna White went to the winner's circle in
Street, running for Thunder Valley Raceway. The Crossett, Ark., racer
scored the win over Kevin Tucker of Newcastle, Okla., racing for Twin City
Dragway. In an all-Houston Raceway Park final in Quick, Magnolia, Texas'
Chris Wood beat out Thomas Iven of Santa Fe, Texas. In another win for
Cherokee County, Eric Cook of Houston beat Euless, Texas, resident Benjamin

Individual winners in the NHRA Summit Racing Series South
Central Division Finals earned a chance to compete against the champions
from NHRA's other six regional divisions for a national championship. In
accordance with division guidelines, the Super Pro and Pro champions have a
run-off to determine who will compete in Pomona. Jones beat Sandlin in the
run-off and has the opportunity to run for the national title.
Drivers who advance to the national title run-off will compete
at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., next
month. Those who compete in Pomona will each receive $3,500 and the
champions in each class will earn a winner-take-all $5,000 purse.
