ARCA RE/MAX SERIES 2006 SCHEDULE

TALLADEGA AL (10-1-05) The ARCA RE/MAX Series, headed toward its 54th consecutive season of competition, has released its 2006 schedule to include 23 events in 12 states.

In addition to its traditional combination of superspeedways and short-tracks, on both dirt and pavement, historic Winchester Speedway returns to the schedule in May after a two-year hiatus, and the season ends at Iowa Speedway in Newton, a Rusty Wallace-designed 7/8 mile which will see its first action in the fall of 2006.

Superspeedways appearing twice on the 2006 schedule include Michigan Int’l Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, Kentucky Speedway and Pocono Raceway. Superspeedway tracks returning for single events include Daytona Int’l Speedway, Gateway Int’l Raceway, Kansas Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, marking the 44th RE/MAX Series appearance at the renowned Alabama 2.66-mile speedplant since 1969.

“With respect to tradition and history, Winchester Speedway’s return to the schedule is important because it extends a relationship that first began in the 1950s,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “At the same time, future growth and expanding the ARCA RE/MAX Series footprint is crucial, and moving further north and west into the Iowa region at a newly constructed state-of-the-art facility is a great opportunity. The 2006 schedule maintains our balance of superspeedway, short track and mile dirt state fairgrounds events, all of which are very important to the identity and industry position of the ARCA RE/MAX Series. In addition, the number of scheduled events remains stable at a level we’ve found to be appropriate for everyone associated with the series.”

The season, as it has since 1964, will open at Daytona with the 43rd annual Daytona ARCA 200 on February 11th. The event, live on SPEED Channel, will serve as a preamble for the same-day NASCAR Nextel Cup Bud Shootout.

Short-tracks hosting two events each include Salem and Toledo Speedways. In addition, Berlin Raceway, the Milwaukee Mile and the annual state fair races at the Springfield and DuQuoin Illinois mile-dirt fairgrounds ovals will each host single events rounding out one of the most versatile schedules in all of motorsports.

Companion events in 2006 include races with the NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series as well as with the Indy Racing League and the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series.

PEED Channel will return in 2006 with coverage of ARCA RE/MAX Series races as established in its multi-year agreement. The televised event schedule is traditionally released at the Series’ championship awards banquet in December.
