Goodwin Doubles at SSP on Saturday Night

Goodwin and Richcreek Victorious at SSP’s Inaugural Pumpkin 200

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (October 1, 2005) – The Inaugural Pumpkin 200 Enduro for
the Xtreme Stock Cars on Saturday, October 1 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park
went to Michael Goodwin of Wellsville. In a very spirited Great American
School Bus race, Michael Goodwin also edged out Jeff Ebersole and Howard Ebaugh.
In the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature, Butch Richcreek continued his
winning streak by beating Timothy Watson and Daryl Sipe.
Polesitter Jason Bowers brought the 28-car field to the green, but it was
outside polesitter Raymond Repp jumping to the lead on lap one. Repp held onto
the lead until lap eight when Michael Goodwin, who started fourth, took
command of the top spot. A few yellow flags over the first 100 laps did not
allow anyone to challenge Goodwin for the lead. At the halfway mark, Goodwin had
a quarter lap advantage over Charlie Pensinger and Bill Fulton. Midway
through the race, Goodwin, Pensinger and Fulton were the only cars remaining on
the led lap.
After lap 100, Pensinger began to close the gap on Goodwin as Goodwin tried
to put third place runner Fulton a lap down. On lap 114, Pensinger retired
to the pit area with mechancal failure, giving a lot of breathing room to
Goodwin. At lap 120, Goodwin held the lead over, Fulton, Raymond Repp, Brian
Sanders and Eric Snoke. Goodwin finally passed Fulton on lap 123 to become the
only driver on the lead lap. Lap 125 saw only twelve cars remaining in the
200 lap race.
On lap 150, Goodwin continued to lead over the lapped cars of Fulton, Repp,
Wayne Eurich and Snoke. Top five runner Snoke dropped out on lap 162.
Wayne Eurich also dropped out on lap 163 as he was in the top five as well.
With twenty laps remaining, Goodwin had a few close calls with lapped traffic
but continued to lead. Fulton remained in second, followed by Matt Smith and
Repp.
At the end it was the 2005 SSP Xtreme Stock Car champion, Michael Goodwin of
Wellsville over Bill Fulton, Matt Smith, Raymond Repp and Brad Garman.
The next event at SSP will be on Saturday, October 22 with the 2nd Miller’s
