David Prawel to Present at Boeing CAD Interoperability Conference

LOVELAND, Colo., Sept. 30 -- Industry consultant, speaker and author David Prawel, founder and president of Longview Advisors Inc., will be speaking at Boeing's Eighth Annual Product Data Exchange Conference, to be held on Oct. 3, 2005 - 5, 2005, in Philadelphia. Topics presented at the conference will include feature-based translation, multi-CAD translation for PLM, security screening with CAD data, quality validation of translated CAD data, CAD visualization with the JT and 3DXML formats, needs assessment for large model visualization and product graphics management.

As products are designed, engineered and manufactured, efficient global communication of product data is a critical element in speeding products to market. Fast processing of design changes lies at the very root of competitiveness and innovation. Yet, problems in CAD data exchange continue to plague the industry, presenting one of the most formidable impediments to productivity and time to market in manufacturing today. Gaining a full understanding of the cost of poor data exchange forms the basis of an effective collaborative product development strategy.

Prawel's presentation, The Cost of Bad CAD, will discuss the impact of interoperability on global collaboration, customer value creation, competitiveness and innovation. He will discuss key elements of enterprise, program and project costs and provide advice on how to assess interoperability costs in a global manufacturing enterprise.

Terry McGowan, a systems engineer at Boeing and the organizer of the conference, explains, "It is extremely important to fully understand the costs and the value of robust data exchange and interoperability. We invited Mr. Prawel's presentation to help us understand these costs. His expertise in these areas will be a welcome addition to our event."
