'Hot Rod' Fuller Signs with Powers Motorsports through 2008
HOUSTON, TX 9/28/05 Heading into this weekend's NHRA Route 66 CARQUEST
Nationals Powers Motorsports Top Fuel dragster team is in place with a
signed sealed deal from 'Hot Rod' Fuller through 2008.
"It's been an exciting journey this season," said an energetic Fuller.
"There have been some ups and downs for sure but in the end there isn't
any place that I want to be than with this team. My crew chiefs Lee
Beard and Rob Flynn are amazing to work with and have given me one heck
of race car to drive. I'm confident to say my future and the future of
David Powers Motorsports is going to be great."
After this past weekend's race cancellation due to hurricane Rita, the
team has regrouped
and is focused on getting down the Route 66 fast track to gain the 52
points needed to regain their Top 10 position. With only four races
left in the season the team still has a great shot to get the job done.
"Our plan is to run hard the rest of season and really see what the car
can do," said Beard. "We've had it running pretty consistent but we
would all like to try and get in the 4.40's 330 mph range before season
end."
The Valvoline/Mac Tools mean machine will be out on the track to finish
out the rest of the 2005 season.
"We couldn't have accomplished all that we have with out the support of
our sponsors, especially Valvoline and Mac Tools," said David Powers,
team owner. "I want to say thank you to everyone for all of their
support, it truly means a lot. I'm glad to Rod on board with us we are
looking forward to making some more announcements in the near future."
