About TomoTherapy Inc.
TomoTherapy Inc. has developed a revolutionary new medical system to deliver conformal radiation therapy to all cancer patients requiring Radiotherapy.
The TomoTherapy technology was born out of collaboration with the University of Wisconsin. TomoTherapy is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, where it employs 200 people.
The TomoTherapy system delivers a sophisticated form of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), which involves changing the size, shape and intensity of the radiation beam to conform to the size, shape and location of the patient's tumor. The system delivers the radiation using a linear accelerator, which produces megavoltage bursts of energy. Development of this advanced treatment is part of an ongoing quest in cancer therapy to reduce the side effects of radiation therapy that result from damage to healthy cells.
