Flextronics to Build New Facility in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

SINGAPORE, Sept. 28 -- Flextronics , a global leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider, today announced that it will expand operations in Mexico through the development of a new facility in Ciudad Juarez. This new Flextronics facility will serve as a strategic location to North American markets for logistics and mechanicals services and will maximize the advantages of Flextronics' low-cost vertically integrated services for OEM customers serving this region. Flextronics expects this facility to be operational in the first half of 2006.

The service offering at this facility will include product Configure-to- Order (CTO)/Build-to-Order (BTO), product completion and pack-out, mechanical services and logistics, such as repair and distribution.

"Flextronics selected Ciudad Juarez as the location for this facility based on its strategic access to North American markets," said Mike McNamara, Flextronics' Chief Operating Officer. He continued, "Ciudad Juarez's proximity to the United States offers flexible logistics options including next-day delivery advantages, shorter transit times and lower transportations costs. In addition, the supply base in this area of Mexico is well established, allowing for logistical cost savings and increased efficiencies. These augmented logistics services will enhance our existing service offering to OEM customers that serve this market."

Flextronics' current Mexico operations include an industrial park located in Guadalajara and a campus in Aguascalientes. The Ciudad Juarez facility will complement the company's existing services offered through its Guadalajara industrial park. Guadalajara will continue offering vertically integrated manufacturing services and will remain Flextronics' Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) center in Mexico.
