Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Media Opportunities

* Nextel Wake-Up Call On Friday, Sept. 30, at 8:00 a.m., the Nextel Wake-Up Call will feature Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge, for a question and answer session.

Casey Mears will join the media at 8:30 a.m. for a special announcement. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. in the media center.

The following drivers will be available this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway for a question-and-answer session. These are slated to take place behind their team haulers and are subject to change.

Friday, Sept. 30 - Tony Stewart will be available at 11:30 a.m., following first NNCS practice.

Friday, Sept. 30 - Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle will be available at approximately 11:45 a.m., following first NNCS practice.

Saturday, Oct. 1 - Mark Martin will be available at 8:30 a.m., prior to NNCS practice.

Saturday, Oct. 1 - Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch will be available at approximately 12:30 p.m., following NNCS practice.

Saturday, Oct. 1 - Ryan Newman will be available at 12:45 p.m., following NNCS practice.

Racing Tidbits

* Nextel Leader Bonus $10,000

With a win at Dover and taking over the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings last week, Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 team captured the $60,000 Nextel Leader Bonus. If they win at Talladega, they will take home another Nextel Leader Bonus totaling $10,000.

* American Red Cross Volunteers Get into the Racing Action

This weekend at the UAW-Ford 500, Sprint Nextel will recognize the tremendous efforts of the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina volunteers by entertaining 200 volunteers throughout race day. In addition, Alabama State Senator Gerald Dial will honor the special guests at 12:45 p.m., on Sunday during a special pre-race presentation on the front-stretch stage.

* Local Fan Meets Ryan Newman at Talladega Superspeedway

While teams were revving their engines for the Chase to begin, fans across the country entered to win the Nextel Race to the Chase Sweepstakes fueled by Sunoco, and Sarah Reynolds of El Cajon, Calif. is a sweepstakes finalist. Reynolds will travel to the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway and will meet Ryan Newman, enjoy VIP treatment throughout the weekend, and receive free Sunoco gasoline for a year.
