CSK Auto Inc. Launches 'Save Fuel' Campaign in Response to Increasing Gas Prices

PHOENIX--Sept. 28, 2005--As fuel prices hover around record highs, Phoenix-based CSK Auto Inc. , parent company of Checker, Schuck's and Kragen Auto Parts, wants to educate the public about cutting fuel costs by getting the most mileage per gallon possible.

With the launch of their "Save Fuel" program, CSK stores are offering driving tips, a checklist of action items to perform regularly on your vehicle, and tips on maintenance and operation to ensure maximum mileage. This information is also available online at www.cskauto.com.

U.S. gas prices have soared recently due to rising international demand that has driven crude oil costs higher across the globe. At home, hurricanes have also been a factor, causing significant damage to offshore rigs, refineries, pipelines and ports in the Gulf of Mexico. These events, coupled with limited refining capacity, have made gasoline a much more precious commodity. Increases in fuel theft are prompting many motorists to invest in locking gas caps for their vehicles.

"Record high gas prices are affecting every American. As the largest specialty retailer of automotive parts and accessories in the western United States, we want to help our customers and neighbors protect their fuel investment and get the most out of every tank of fuel," said Jim Schoenberger, vice president of marketing for CSK Auto Inc. "It's often surprising how much can be saved at the gas pump just by following basic maintenance procedures and making simple changes in driving habits."
