Parvus Exhibits New EDU Rugged Flat Panel Display Family, Targeting Commercial Ground Vehicle Applications

Parvus Corp. today unveiled the new Embedded Display Unit (EDU) family at the APTA International Public Transportation Expo, booth no. 5348. Part of Parvus' new Mobile Information Infrastructure (M2i(TM)) solution, the EDU is a family of rugged, reliable TFT-LCD flat panel displays optimized for OEM mobile and vehicular computing applications (i.e., bus, automotive, police, train, ambulance).

All EDU displays are housed in attractive steel/aluminum enclosures with built-in power supplies optimized for vehicular mobile use. Designed for a wide operational temperature range of -20 C to +70 C, the EDU family consists of five display models: 6.5", 8.4", 10.4", 12.1" and 15" viewable LCDs. Resolutions range from VGA (640x480) up to SVGA (1024x768 or 800x600). Optimal operation during night and day conditions is possible with the EDU's adjustable backlight that can be reduced from 100% down to 5%.

A wide automotive +8 to +40VDC input range power supply provides power to the display unit itself and can be used to power external devices with either +5V or +12VDC. The input of the power supply is designed to withstand all the conditions found in vehicle or industrial environments: over voltages, transients, load dump, reverse polarity and short circuit conditions. Electromagnetic compliance with the EC (CE) as well as EN50155 low voltage directive is guaranteed.
