Zetsche Looks To The Future

In an interview today, Dieter Zetsche, head of the Mercedes Car
Group, told reporters "A lot of work has to be done." The work he's
referring to is repairing Mercedes' financial problems and re-
establishing Mercedes as the world leader in the luxury car segment.
Or so I would have to guess.
One of Zetsche's major concerns is productivity, which could indicate
the job cuts we reported about earlier may be drawing near. According
to Zetsche, "The productivity issue is a major issue, and we have to
address it." Zetsche went on to say that a plan will be announced "in
the near term," and elaborated that every part of the Mercedes Car
Group, not just manufacturing plants, will be under scrutiny.
I might not be the head of a multi-billion dollar corporation, but I
think what Zetsche is trying to say is "You're fired, and take five-
thousand of your friends with you." Or something like that.
