Motiva's Beaumont Terminal Reopens and Shell Gasoline Deliveries Top 5.2 Million Gallons

Update: Tuesday, September 27, 2005

HOUSTON, Sept. 27 -- Shell Oil Products US and Motiva Enterprises LLC have reopened their Beaumont Terminal and tankers have begun pulling fuel from the location. With three terminals now open, the companies are reporting that 70 percent of Shell-branded stations in the Houston area have gasoline and that the number will increase hourly. Since Saturday morning, shortly after the storm, Shell and Motiva employees have been working around the clock to ensure there is a supply of fuel for people returning to the city. As of this morning, more than 581 tanker loads equaling 5.2 million gallons of fuel had been shipped to strategic station locations in Houston and along return routes.

In the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, the companies continue efforts to repair and reopen facilities that were impacted. While Shell and Motiva employees and retailers are working diligently to ensure there is an adequate supply of gasoline, it is important to remember that the country is recovering from two major hurricanes in areas most critical to our nation's fuel supply. Motiva and Shell hope you'll join the companies and their employees in support of local, state and national officials' who have requested that consumers conserve fuel and avoid unnecessary driving.
