Pumpkin 200 Next at SSP on Saturday, October 1 NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (September 26, 2005) – On Saturday afternoon, October 1, the Susquehanna Speedway Park will host the Pumpkin 200 Enduro race. As a bonus attraction, the Great American School Buses and Mini Vans presented by Speedway Auto Sales will take to the track before the 200 lap Enduro event. Fans will also be given complimentary school bus rides around the track at 12:30 p.m. The Enduro event will follow the specifications for the Xtreme Stock Car division that ran weekly at SSP during the 2005 season. The purse payout will be based on entry numbers and a payout can be found at the end of this release. Pre-entry for the event is encouraged but not mandatory. A Pre-entry fee is $50.00 and must be postmarked by Tuesday, September 27, 2005. All entries postmarked on or after September 28, 2005 will be $75.00. Entries will be taken on the day of the event. The starting positions for the Turkey 200 will be aligned through a blind draw at the pit gate on the day of the event. As a special bonus, all pre-entrants will be able to draw a second time for a starting position if he or she does not like their first draw for position. However, the entrant must take the second drawn spot regardless of whether or not it is a better starting position. Race procedures will be described at the mandatory driver’s meeting at 12:00 p.m. In keeping with “traditional�?? Enduro racing, the red and yellow flags will be used sparingly at the official’s discretion if the track becomes blocked or a driver is in a precarious position. Each team must provide its own scorer for the event. Gates open in the pit area and grandstands open at 10:00 a.m. with racing beginning promptly at 1:00 p.m. Grandstand ticket prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. Pit passes for all drivers and crew members are $20.00. The raindate for the event is Sunday afternoon, October 2 with the same time schedule. The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. There will also be a Mini Van Oval Race. The Street Stock event will pay $3000 to the winner and is sponsored by Morgan’s Place Restaurant and Norm’s Tire & Auto. This event was originally scheduled for Silver Spring Speedway and was moved due to a scheduling conflict. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. with racing beginning at 3:00 p.m. - “The Candy Bowl�?? has been scheduled for Saturday, October 29 at 4:00 p.m. This event will feature the wingless ARDC Midgets, 600cc Micro Sprints, Silver Springs Street Stocks, Legends Cars, Lincoln Thundercars, Mini Vans, W.O.W. (Women on Wheels) in both Xtreme Stocks and School Buses, XSC Rookie Rumble. The ARDC Midgets and 600cc Micro Sprints will have qualifying races as well. After the event, all teams are encouraged to stay for trick or treating in the pits with all kids in costumes. All kids in costumes will be admitted free to the races.
