REMEMBER THE ALAMO PIEROVICH WINS AT ORANGE SHOW!
Scott Pierovich of Alamo, Calif. scored his first USAC Western
Midget Car Series victory Saturday night, winning the 40-lap feature at the
Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. The race was USAC’s first
for Western Midgets there since Sleepy Tripp’s victory in 1999.
Pierovich, who now ranks seventh in the standings, led all 40
laps to beat Tyler Brown, Matt Mitchell, Jerome Rodela and Dallen McKenney.
Series point leader Robby Flock finished sixth. Shannon McQueen was the
fastest qualifier and Pierovich and Brown won the heats. Pierovich’s best
previous series finish was a seventh at Santa Maria, Calif. earlier this year.
Flock emerged from the race with a 49-point lead over Rodela
in quest of his fifth series title. The next series event is slated at
Ventura (Calif.) Raceway October 15.
