Dealerships Hit by Katrina May Get Aid via Tax Breaks

Washington DC Sepember 25, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that the White House is trying to give auto dealerships and other businesses battered by Hurricane Katrina big tax breaks to help spur the rebuilding process, reports Automotive News. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez told dealers last week at the NADA Washington Conference that businesses should also be eager to reinvest in the area because of its profit-making potential. Dealers are anxiously awaiting details about a Bush administration plan for a Gulf Opportunity Zone, which would include measures aimed at encouraging redevelopment and reinvestment in the Gulf region.
